The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is an elite One Day International (ODI) cricket tournament organized by the International Cricket Council (ICC). Scheduled to take place from February 19 to March 9, 2025, this will be the ninth edition of the tournament. Pakistan has been selected as the host nation, marking the country’s first major ICC event since the 1996 Cricket World Cup. A total of eight teams will compete, including Pakistan, India, Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. These teams have qualified based on their performances in the ICC ODI rankings.
The competition follows a group stage and knockout format, where teams are divided into two groups of four. Each team will play against the other teams in their group once, with the top two from each group advancing to the semi-finals. The tournament featured 15 matches, played across multiple venues in Pakistan, including Gaddafi Stadium (Lahore), National Stadium (Karachi), and Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium (Rawalpindi). Due to political reasons, India’s matches are expected to be held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in the UAE.
The ICC has yet to announce the official prize pool, but previous editions have featured significant financial rewards, with the winner expected to receive millions in prize money. The final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is scheduled to take place at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, unless India qualifies, in which case it will be moved to Dubai.
